As your Representative in Little Rock, I’ll be focused on the issues that matter the most to everyday Arkansans.
Cost of Living
Working people, no matter their job, deserve to have their paycheck cover basic needs like healthcare, housing, groceries, and everyday necessities. Yet in the past ten years under dogmatic Republican policies, the people of Arkansas have found it harder and harder just to get by.
Since 2019, the median rent has risen by 50%, while home prices have skyrocketed more than 70% - rising even faster than areas like Chapel Hill, NC or Austin, TX. At the same time, the median income for a family of four only increased 35%. When housing prices rise so much faster than incomes, everyday Arkansans fall further behind, no matter how hard we work.
But instead of taking action to help, our state leaders have de-regulated big corporations and given away the farm to private equity. They’ve let rich donors dominate every aspect of our lives, inflating prices for everything. And they’ve waged a culture war to distract from how much these policies hurt everyday Arkansans.
As your Representative, I will fight to return power to where it belongs: everyday Arkansans like you and me. I will work with other state legislators to find ways to reduce the cost of life’s necessities like housing, food, and healthcare.
Free and Fair Education
No matter the circumstances they were born into, every child deserves the best education possible. Good education makes for better citizens, workers, fathers, and mothers. However, the GOP legislature has passed the disastrous LEARNS Act, which stripped billions of dollars from public schools under the guise of “choice.” Now, private schools are being funded with our public tax dollars - while enjoying exemptions to our state standards. This isn’t fair to taxpayers or students, and I will fight to repeal this law.
I’ll also take on frivolous laws intended to divide Arkansans and waste taxpayer money, like Act 573, which mandates the display of the Ten Commandments in Arkansas public schools. This is a clear violation of the U.S. Constitution and is intended to inflame and divide us. The politicians who voted for this act have even allowed hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of your tax dollars to be spent on legal expenses defending this flagrant violation. I will ensure that your money is being spent to support our students, not lawsuits. I will work with others to make sure what is taught reinforces the American values on which we were raised: justice, integrity, and respect.
Pragmatic Governance with Integrity
Everyone in District 13 deserves to know your hard-earned tax dollars are being used to benefit you, not to buy a $19,000 podium. The Arkansas Republican Party has become synonymous with corruption and grift, and it’s time to do something about it.
When elected, I will work to remove the wealthy interests in state government. I will pursue corruption and grift with every legal tool available to the legislature. I’ll make sure your tax dollars are working for you, not the people who think they can get away with anything they want.
